About Us
The Elkton church of Christ is simply a group of Christians, disciples of Jesus. We strive to follow Him and let His light shine through us so the world may see His love, grace and holiness. We consider the Bible to be the revelation from God that reveals to all people God's desire to have a relationship with every human being on earth through the grace provided in the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible reveals, in brief, how God has worked among people through history to provide a way of salvation for everyone who will yield themselves to His way through trust and obedience.
We are not perfect people and we don’t expect you to be either. We want to be more and more like Jesus, but we also know that we live in His grace and without it, we are doomed. We recognize that we are not always as loving and good as we think we are or as we should be. We have failed and we know we will fail in the future. We are not better than you. So, if you are looking for people who want to be like Jesus, but know that they are not always like Jesus and need forgiveness a lot, well, then maybe, we are the people you are looking for.
At the same time, let’s be honest. The Bible is pretty clear that not everyone is going to heaven. We can’t be disciples of Jesus and believe and live any way we want to. We can’t look at God, who gave His Son to suffer what we deserved, and say, “I’m going to do it my way”, and think that He will be okay with that. When grace happens to you, it changes you, or at least, it should change you to be more like the one who showed you His grace.
So, that’s us…constantly changing, growing, transforming in God’s grace. We get it wrong sometimes and we know you do too. So, let’s change and grow and transform together to be more like Jesus. We will learn to love one another and serve one another and forgive one another better, the way God loves, serves and forgives us. We will spend time showing the world God’s grace through our service together. And we will worship together with singing and prayer and Bible study.
We Invite You to Worship With Us
We assemble for worship every Sunday and Wednesday. Everyone, and we really do mean everyone, is welcome to worship with us. You will discover that we are a group of people who love people and want to help people.
In our worship we praise God in song and in prayer because He is worthy of all praise and thanksgiving.
In our worship on Sunday, we partake of the Lord's Supper, a simple memorial in which we reflect on Jesus's sacrifice, what that means to us and how that changes us to live more for Him.
In our worship, we make a financial contribution. The Elkton church of Christ is engaged in the preaching of the gospel in a variety of different places in the world. The contribution of the members supports both the work we do in the area of Elkton and abroad. We don't expect our visitors to give and we will not solicit you.
In our worship assembly, we spend time in the study of God's word. A sermon or lesson is delivered every Sunday from God's word that teaches and motivates us to be more like our Heavenly Father.
During our meetings on Sunday and Wednesday, we also have a period of Bible study, when we disperse to different classes and spend time in deeper reflection and discussion of God's word, what it means and how it applies to us each day. We have Bible classes for all ages.
