The Elkton church is like a family of Christians, joined together by a like precious faith that is found in Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:1)
Christians long ago enjoyed common ground because of this faith in Christ. It allowed them to work together as a well functioning body because of what they shared in faith. This is what we at the Elkton church of Christ have experienced as well. We are following the same “word” or “pattern” as the Christians of the first century.
Like those Christians long ago … we have a common purpose … to uphold truth.
- The apostle Paul instructed Timothy,
“but if I am delayed, that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of truth.” 1 Timothy 3:15
Following the New Testament pattern, we worship God in the same manner as the Christians did when the church began.
- We sing songs without musical accompaniment. Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16
- Men of the congregation lead us in prayer. 1 Tim. 2:1-4
- We partake of the Lord’s Supper every first day of the week. Acts 20:7
- The work of the church is supported by contributions from our members on the first day of the week. 1 Cor. 16:1-2
- Bible teaching and preaching is a part of every service. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 (Preachers have a serious charge to “preach the word.” 2 Tim. 4:1-5)
We would love to see you at our services!
- You will not be asked for a contribution. You will not be required to do anything that might embarrass you. Instead, you will have opportunity to experience worship to God just as the Christians of the first century did, when the church began.
- It is our aim to please and serve the God who has offered us salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Can we help you come to know Him?
